Semester Study Abroad in India Program - Marine Science

This course takes students across the southern coasts of India and to the Andaman Islands. A lecture cum field based course we tie up with the Fisheries College, Mangalore and National Institute of Oceanography, Goa on the west coast and the Centre for Advanced Studies in Marine Biology, Porto Novo and the Suganthi Devadosan Marine Research Institute, Tuticorin on the east coast. Students learn and observe several scientific research methods, use different equipment and conduct group and individual research projects. The several readings provided and academic interactions at the research institutions lay the theoretical grounding in stitching together concepts and observations in the field.

Grading is a combination of class participation, individual papers and research, sections quizzes and group projects. Students will be required to make a final presentation at the end of the course.
