This course looks at theories of governance, models of policy process and disaster management in recent times. The detailed course syllabus is currently under development.
The body of academic writing on the subject is vast and includes several arenas – political science, political economy, environmental policy, social theory, peace and justice – to name a few. India provides several past, recent and current disaster situations, the study of which can help students arrive at an understanding of how these bodies of academic research influence, impact and drive ground responses. The course would take students to field sites for a first hand experience of meeting with and listening to a variety of individuals who have been involved in this field. Academic readings would provide a background to the visuals, lectures/discussions and excursions. |
